E’ in partenza la Nazionale Under 23 Femminile che da mercoledì 12 agosto fino al 19 sarà impegnata ad Ankara nei Campionati del Mondo ai quali parteciperanno dodici formazioni divise in due gironi.

La Nazione Italiana allenata da Luca Cristofani, che si presenta alla rassegna iridata con una formazione più giovane della soglia d’età prevista, è stata inserita nella pool A dove affronterà, nell’ordine, Bulgaria, Turchia, Colombia, Brasile ed Egitto; le Azzurrine osserveranno un giorno di riposo domenica 16 agosto.

Le prime due classificate di ogni pool accederanno alle semifinali, mentre le terze e quarte disputeranno i playoff per contendersi il quinto e sesto posto.

attaccanti: Angelina, Degradi, D’Odorico, Guerra, Zanette, Nicoletti;
centrali: Berti, Danesi, Bonifacio;
palleggiatrici: Bosio, Cambi;
libero: De Bortoli.

Alla vigilia della partenza il tecnico Luca Cristofani ha dichiarato: “Il lavoro è andato molto bene, sono soddisfatto di ciò che le ragazze hanno fatto vedere; le amichevoli giocate hanno fornito importanti indicazioni sul loro stato forma. Sappiamo benissimo che al Mondiale il livello sarà più alto e saremo chiamati a fare qualcosa di speciale. Le ragazze giocheranno con avversarie più grandi di tre anni, ma la cosa non ci spaventa; questo Mondiale sarà propedeutico per il prossimo (quello U20, Portorico 11-19 settembre, ndr).” Il tecnico spiega la scelta di partecipare alla rassegna iridata con una squadra più giovane: “Le nostre Under 23 giocano in pianta stabile nella Nazionale Seniores o quanto meno fanno parte di quel gruppo; è giusto che continuino il loro percorso; la scelta è condivisa con la Federazione e il CT Bonitta. Noi da parte nostra parteciperemo a questa manifestazione con giovani molto interessanti che avranno la possibilità di maturare importanti esperienze confrontandosi con atlete più grandi”. Un ultimo sguardo è alle avversarie: “Credo che Brasile, Cina e Turchia siano un gradino sopra le altre; è possibile che venga fuori qualche outsider, ma queste tre squadre secondo me sono le più forti”.

Captain of Italy D'Odorico adds 15 point and she is the best scorer! Other side, Chausheva scores 10 points.

Italy started their FIVB 2015 U23 Women’s World Championship campaign with a straight-set (25-23, 25-20, 25-19) win over Bulgaria. The East Europeans had their best moments in the first set but were not consistent enough to win a set on Wednesday afternoon in Ankara’s Arena Hall.

Italy’s captain Sofia D’Odorico led the South Europeans with 15 points. Best scorer in Bulgaria’s team was Silvana Chausheva with ten kills. Italy had the better offense today (43-29) and were stronger in blocking (10-5) as well.

There was not much to separate the two teams in the opening set. Italy had a two-point lead at the first and second technical timeout, but the East Europeans quickly bounced back to turn the tables at 21-20. However, it was not good enough. The squadra azzurra kept cool in the crucial moments, closing out the first set 25-23 in their favour.

Italy’s captain Sofia D’Odorico (seven points in the first set) continued her run in the second set. The 18-year young Italian led her team to a well-deserved 25-20 success. On the other side, the Bulgarian offense experienced much more difficulties against the strong Italian defense.

The story of the match did not change in the third and last set. Italy kept command and never looked back until 25-19.

Debutto positivo per la nazionale femminile U23 nel Mondiale di categoria. La squadra di Cristofani ha superato abbastanza nettamente la Bulgaria, giocando una gara concreta e con poche sbavature.
L'Italia ha trovato qualche piccola difficoltà soltanto nel set iniziale quando ha sentito la pressione dell'esordio, ma una volta rotto il ghiaccio vincendo il parziale 25-23, ha poi giocato con tranquillità tenendo sempre in mano la gara.
Il tecnico azzurro ha schierato inizialmente Cambi in regia, Zanette opposto, Bonifacio e Danesi al centro, D'Odorico e Degradi di banda, De Bortoli libero. Cristofani dopo averla utilizzata anche nei primi due parziali nel terzo ha schierato Guerra per Degradi.
Top scorer italiano (ed anche del match) D'Odorico con 17 punti.
Domani alle 18 italiane secondo impegno con la Turchia.

The last game of the second day at the FIVB Volleyball Women's U23 World Championship was played between two strong sides, Turkey and Italy in the Pool A where the hosts won 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22).

Hande Baladin and Kübra Akman shared a whopping 33 points in contributing to Turkey’s score by non-stop attacks when they clashed with Italy. Italy’s Anna Danesi and Elisa Zanette responded with 13 points each.

Turkey started off with powerful attacks, crushing Italy’s defence with vigorous spikes entering technical timeout 8-4 ahead. Turkey continued in stretching the margin with powerful attacks and with the support of the fans, Turkey flattened the defence wrapping up at 25-15.

Both teams started off extremely tense and tight (4-4) until Italy started blocking better eventually preventing Turkey to catch-up entering 13-16 ahead at second technical pause. Italy remained its strength in blocking out Turkey, but with a spike by Meliha they have managed to trail only by one point (19-20). Italy was quick to react and forming better counter attacks winning their first set by 22-25.

The host team started off well and was leading 8-4 when entering technical timeout. Italy’s defence couldn't hold on to Turkey’s offensive actions, most scorer Hande Baladin and Meliha İsmailoğlu’s bitter serves prevented Italy to make a comeback (18-13).

A double block by Kubra and Meliha brought the one point Turkey needed and won the set at 25-18.

Italy started off strong in the fourth set with points scored by Danessi and Zannetti, Turkey answered back with Meliha (7-7). A double block by Bonifacio and Danesi assisted Italy to lead by three (12-9).

Italy didn't let Turkey get near and led at 16-13 at the second technical pause. Turkey’s attack by Ozge equalized the score at 16-all. In the late stages in the set, Turkey led by two later winning the match at 25-22.

Hande Baladin was the best player for the Turkish side scoring 18 points. Italian Zanetti and Danesi displayed a solid performance.

Prima sconfitta per le azzurre di Luca Cristofani nel Mondiale U23. Cambi e compagne hanno ceduto 3-1 (25-15 22-25 25-18 25-22) alla Turchia padrona di casa al termine di una gara in cui soltanto a tratti sono riuscite a mostrare il loro gioco migliore.

L'Italia ha subito nel primo set, in cui il tecnico azzurro ha schierato Cambi in regia, Zanette opposto, Danesi e Bonifacio centrali, Degradi e D'odorico di banda, De Bortoli libero.

Poi il sestetto tricolore ha reagito, vinto 25-22 il secondo, lottato a lungo nel quarto (in cui è stato avanti anche 13-9) cercando di arrivare al tie-break senza riuscirci cedendo 25-22.

Tra le ragazze italiane in evidenza Danesi a muro con 4 realizzazioni vincenti e 13 punti realizzati in totale.

Italy improved their win-loss record to 2-1 by downing Colombia 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-21) on Friday afternoon.

Colombia had their best moments at the end of the second and in the beginning of the third set but couldn’t pull through. The South Americans remain winless after the third competition day of the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U23 World Championship in Ankara, Turkey.

Colombia’s Amanda was the top scorer of the match with 16 kills. Three Italian players led the squadra azzurra: captain Sofia Bonifacio, Anna Danesi and Elisa Zanette scored twelve points each. Italy had the edge in serving (4-1) and blocking (12-6).

With fives block kills and two aces, Italy quickly found their rhythm in the opening set. Middle blocker Anna Danesi (six points in the first period) led the South Europeans to a comfortable 16-11 lead at the first technical timeout. The Colombian side, on the order hand, struggled with passing. After 22 minutes, the Azzurrine sealed 25-19 set win with a quick combination at the net.

Colombia had their best moments in the second part of the second set. 7-16 down, the team of coach Eduardo Guillaume bounced back bravely to turn the tables at 21-20. Yeisy Soto (six points) and Amanda (seven) powered the yellow-and-blacks back into the competition. However, it was not good enough. Elisa Zanette kept cool to finish the second set 26-24 in Italy’s favour.

Even though Colombia still played well in the beginning of the third set, Italy kept the upper hand during the crucial moments of the set. Alice Carlotta ended the third set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
